Chief Schermerhorn has safeguarded Oregon's northern coast for more than 20 years - starting in Seaside for a decade, before taking the helm at Cannon Beach 12 years ago. Jason has played a crucial role in the OACP, serving on various committees and representing District #1, which includes Clatsop, Tillamook, and Columbia counties, ensuring that surrounding agencies and their leaders thrive. OACP President Chief Mark Daniel got to congratulate & present him with an OACP retirement plaque.
While we are saddened by his departure from this role, we look forward to new opportunities awaiting him.

Monday evening saw a full house as the Tillamook community gathered to celebrate Chief Nick Troxel's swearing-in ceremony.
Nick, who has been with Tillamook since 2003, began his career as a patrol officer and has since advanced through the ranks to become SRO, detective, lieutenant, and now chief.
In addition to his new role, Chief Troxel has been involved with the OACP since 2022 and recently assumed the position of District #1 representative.
The OACP extends its congratulations to Chief Troxel on his promotion, and wishes him all the best in his new role.

The City of Sandy has a new Chief:
Welcome Patrick Huskey!
Chief Huskey brings over 26 years of experience from the Oregon State Police to his new role. Throughout his career, Patrick has held various positions, including officer, patrol sergeant, drug enforcement section detective, and HIT (homicide investigation and tracking) sergeant. Additionally, he has served as a defense tactics instructor and field training officer.
The OACP congratulates Chief Huskey on his promotion and wishes him continued success in this new position.

McCulloch‘s "Ignite Your Leadership Potential" talk is based on his wealth of knowledge and lessons learned during his career as a leader. Oakland highlights leadership principles that will benefit today's leaders and inspire the leaders of tomorrow. McCulloch stressed there is NO "discussion of theory" in his presentation. He will discuss what every leader can do every day to improve their leadership skills and abilities and will examine what it takes to become the leader you were meant to be – a Servant Leader.
