Each year, the OACP awards thousands of dollars in college scholarships to select students who plan to enter a law enforcement or other criminal justice career. The OACP is committed to promoting professionalism and we value the presence and contributions of educated men and women in these fields. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Oregon agencies are engaging with their communities in fun and creative ways this summer. From Popsicle Patrols and Operation Chill to stopping by local lemonade stands, festivals, fairs and BBQs, departments are going the extra mile to show their dedication to the communities they serve.

Chief Gary Klopfenstein (Roseburg PD) helped kids practice their detective skills at Detective Day.

Chief Jason Odgen and Officer Sundquist (Sweet Home PD) participated in "Lets Paint the Town."

Chief Peter Mahuna and Sgt. Todd Gradwahl (West Linn PD) were a part of the 2023 West Linn Old Time Fair.

TRAINING CORNER
Each week we'll be looking back at past training and featuring a presentation that can be accessed on our training platform. Consider watching one of the highlighted videos (or having someone at your agency do so) for additional training credit.

Creating a Civil & Respectful Policing Culture
Presented by Dr. Michelle Bennett

Dr. Michelle Bennett brought us this presentation at our Executive Leadership Virtual Conference in February of 2021. Creating a Civil and Respectful Policing Culture is a comprehensive training designed to foster understanding, meaning, and clarity as well as the legal ramifications regarding the topics of workplace incivility, bullying, and violence. Viewers of this presentation will learn about the causes of, and damaging effects of, negative workplace behaviors and actions. They'll gain powerful tools, tips, and techniques to confront and address these behaviors and to confidently combat workplace incivility and bullying.

To view this  4-part, 4 credit-hour presentation, log into the Members Only area and click on Training in the upper blue ribbon. You will find this video in the "F6 | Mental Health/CIT" package.
