Meet Chief Marcia Harnden, one of our conference presenters:
We’d like to take this opportunity to give a Shout Out to Chief Harnden … not only for her willingness to share at the upcoming conference her recent experience with workplace tragedy, but for her continued efforts serving on the Education & Training committee, where she has been an invaluable resource to the OACP.
We will be featuring each of our conference presenters in the coming weeks.

Meet Sheriff Jef Van Arsdall who will join Chief Harnden in their presentation:
|
Sheriff Jef Van Arsdall Benton County
|
Sheriff Jef Van Arsdall has over twenty years of law enforcement experience. He began his career with Washington County, Oregon as a reserve deputy and worked at the Corvallis Police Department beginning in 1997, earning the rank of patrol lieutenant, and joined Baker County Sheriff’s Office in 2017, becoming undersheriff in 2018. Van Arsdall holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Administration of Justice from Portland State University. He was sworn in as Benton County's Interim Sheriff on March 15, 2021.
|
Topic: "The Leaders' Mandate - Caring for Your People During Times of Loss and Tragedy" Chief Harnden and Sheriff Van Arsdall share their story….It can happen anywhere. When tragedy strikes the workplace — a fatal accident, violence, suicide, or natural disaster — all employees immediately look to its leadership for direction. How those leaders respond when all eyes are upon them offers tremendous opportunity. The reaction of leadership will echo throughout the organization as others take their cue from the charted direction. Click here to read more.

The OACP would like to welcome our "relatively" new members approved at the May 2021 Board Meeting. Though we've not used this publication space in the past to welcome approved members, we think it's important to give new members from this past year a Shout Out. Next week we will be featuring additional individuals approved in February of this year. Please look for opportunities to say hello and connect with these new members.
Chief Bob Ray, Cornelius PD/WCSO Captain Doug Kitzmiller, Canby PD Chief Jim Haxton, North Plains PD Captain Thomas Lindahl, Coos Bay PD Lieutenant Misty English, Grants Pass DPS Sergeant Todd Jochum, Sutherlin PD
