Meet OACP's Annual Conference Presenter:

Dr. Kimberly Miller

Police & Public Safety Psychologist & Consultant

Topic: “The Chiefs’ Circle: Combating Isolation in the Most Demanding Leadership Role”

Description: Police Chiefs carry one of the most demanding roles in public service - leading through crisis, scrutiny, political pressure, and organizational complexity while remaining steady, decisive, and accountable. Yet the position can also be deeply isolating, with few places where Chiefs can speak candidly about the weight of the job or gain perspective from those who truly understand it. This session introduces the concept of a Chiefs’ Circle and Executive Peer Support, a structured approach that brings Chiefs together in a confidential environment to share challenges, gain insight, and support one another through the realities of executive leadership. Participants will learn how peer consultation, psychological insight, and intentional leadership dialogue can strengthen resilience, decision-making, and professional longevity, and will leave with a vision for how a Chiefs’ Circle could support leaders across Oregon so that those who carry the responsibility of leadership do not have to carry it alone.

From one side of the state to the other, the OACP had the honor of recognizing Chief Caldera and Chief Reimann at their retirement celebrations. Joined by Chief Rick Stokoe (OACP's VP at Large) and Chief Greg Pickering (OACP's District 2 Representative) , each was presented with a plaque honoring decades of service to their communities and the Association. We extend our gratitude and warmest wishes as they move into their next endeavors.
