We know many agencies around the state are experiencing devastation from the wildfires. We want our Members to know our thoughts and prayers are with all of you who are enduring this terribly difficult time.

We've been on a mission to discover creative ways agencies around the state are engaging with their community during these challenging times and we think Albany PD's outreach through public and private partnerships fits the bill!

Through their partnership with Albany Parks and Rec, Albany Fire and other groups, they created "Fun in the Park."  Instead of camps with kids, they drove through the park and stopped at stations where they received games and handouts.  Enjoy the photos below.

Also highly successful has been Albany PD's Porch Parades through the city. With help from public safety partners all around the county, they would do lights and siren parades and hand out stickers to kids throughout neighborhoods during the lock-down.

We will continue to use this platform to highlight the good work agencies around Oregon are involved in. Let us know how your agency is engaging and making a difference in your community. One of our favorite things to do is share these ideas with fellow members.

 OACP News

The OACP congratulates Talent PD Chief Tim Doney on his retirement and thanks him for his service to the Talent, Medford, and Springfield communities during his three decade career. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.

We are on a mission to highlight community support of agencies around the state. We’re aware that there are many Oregonians who are very supportive of their police departments and we want to give those neighbors a chance to have their voices heard. We thought utilizing each agency’s Facebook page would be the best platform for this. We have some creative ideas for what we will do with these responses...

Check out these responses on Enterprise's Facebook page. Below are some that we thought were especially encouraging. Are you willing and interested in having this message posted on your Facebook page? Reach out to Deanna at [email protected].

"I appreciate the effort that our officers make to work with the community they get to know us and we get to know them. They Care about each and every one of us..There is a mutual respect. I am thankful we have the officers we do. May God bless them."

"We appreciate how many still put the uniform on everyday for us during these uncertain times.. my family to yours... were here when you need us..."

"The first thing that comes to my mind is when I have dropped my Grandson off at School in the morning and seeing you there greeting all the kids as they enter the building. I appreciate how that made me feel in good way knowing our Police Department cares about the safety of all our kids!! Thank you."
