DPSST is once again hosting the Fall Conference on their beautiful campus. The OACP is grateful for the long-time partnership with this agency.

Check-in is a breeze! Chiefs Reimann & Chapanar, along with Deputy Chief Roque, arrived for the morning board meetings.

The OACP Board meeting was facilitated by President Mark Daniel. OACP Executive  Director Kevin Campbell provided some important updates on implementation of HB 4002.

Lunchtime!
Conference attendees enjoyed lunch provided by DPSST.

Day one comes to a close  - LE leaders from across the state have been inspired and enthusiastically await more informative & engaging  presentations tomorrow!

We are excited to announce that the OACP Conference & Events App is now available for download in your App/Play store, and is currently being given a test run at our Fall Conference.  While we anticipate there may be some initial challenges, feedback will be helpful in allowing us to address any issues prior to ELTS &  the 2025 Annual Conference.

This app, which interfaces with our Memberclicks association management system, can be downloaded below by clicking on the appropriate link. Content that is specific to individual conferences is only accessible to those registered for that particular OACP event and becomes available with a code sent to the email address associated with the registration. If you have any questions, reach out to Liz at [email protected].

This fall, the OACP invites our members to take a stroll down memory lane. For those who have been with us for several years we hope to rekindle cherished memories. For our newer members, we hope you enjoy the journey. Soon these moments will become your own treasured memories.

During the week of October 15, 1988, the annual conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police is held in Portland; 7,290 people attend representing the United States and more than 40 foreign countries.

As Law Enforcement leaders from  across the Oregon get ready to  gather in Boston for the  2024  IACP Conference  the OACP rewinds to the 1987 decision to bring this renowned conference to the Northwest; specifically Portland.  Much like the OACP, albeit on a much larger scale, the International Association of Chiefs of Police  advances the policing profession through advocacy, research, outreach, and education. In April of '87, the media watched on and recorded the decisions (and debates) of local elected officials and law enforcement leaders who negotiated and ultimately decided to bring the IACP to town, benefitting thousands who participated.

When: November 5 - 7, 2024
Where: Sunriver, Oregon

If you think an agency review may be of benefit to your department, reach out to the OACP staff for more information.

We received wonderful feedback from Chief Parise of Hubbard PD on the Agency Review Program and the chiefs who serve on this important committee. With his permission we wanted to share his comments.

"They (referring to Chiefs John Schmerber, Henry Reimann and Jorge Tro) truly are a class act and our entire department here was very impressed with them. Their professionalism, dedication, and attention to detail truly shone through in every aspect of the process that day. They shared feedback at the end which was great and as I mentioned I am really excited for the report, which I know will have more detail. I know both will undoubtedly help us improve our practices and strengthen our commitment to serving our community even more so and help us to always work to make things even better than we found them."
