Against a spectacular Southern Oregon backdrop, and some pretty incredible fall weather, members from across the state have come together for three days of connection, conversation and learning. We kicked things off with the OACP Board of Directors meeting, Readiness Week programming, legislative updates, and training designed to keep Oregon’s law enforcement leaders informed, prepared and looking ahead.
Between the important discussions and time in the classroom, there’s also something to be said for simply being together — reconnecting with longtime colleagues, welcoming new faces and sharing ideas in a setting that makes it especially easy to appreciate why we gather.
A great start to what promises to be a memorable few days in Ashland. A special thanks to Chief Tighe O'Meara and Ashland PD for a warm welcome to their neighborhood.

From National Night Out and city festivals to county fairs, rodeos, Cops & Bobbers, Coffee with a Cop and Popsicles with Police, agencies across Oregon spent the summer showing up for their communities in ways both big and small.
These events may have different names, but the purpose behind them is much the same: creating opportunities for people to connect with the officers who serve them beyond a call for service or moment of crisis. A conversation over coffee, a child’s first fishing catch, a shared laugh at a community booth or a popsicle on a hot afternoon may seem simple, but those moments matter.
They build familiarity, strengthen relationships and create memories that can shape how a child, a family or an entire community views law enforcement. Across the state, Oregon agencies are putting in the work to foster trust, deepen community connections and help pave the way toward a more positive, connected future for policing.
Here are just a few snapshots of what community policing looked like across Oregon this summer:
