The OACP wrapped up another successful Fall Conference. A big thanks to DPSST for hosting our group, and to those who were able to join us! Here are a few highlights:

Sven Bergmann (with our Planinum sponsor, Altria)  has been a faithful partner with the OACP over the years.

Dr. Brinkman humorously (and with practical examples) explained how to communicate effectively with people you "can't stand."

Judge Fouratt brought a thought-provoking message on  how law enforcement leaders can operate effectively in today's turbo-charged social environment.

With November in site, Dr. Blazak spoke on extremism and how LE can practically prepare for potential challenges surrounding the election.

Frank Scalise reminded agencies about the importance of culture in their department; how to recognize it, and influence it in positive ways.

When: November 5 - 7, 2024

Where: Sunriver Resort
Sunriver, Oregon

Cost: Free

Thank you to the sponsors of the Small Agency Conference:

After a four year hiatus -- LEELI is underway!!

The Deschutes County Sheriff's office is graciously hosting OACP members from across the state this week as attendees venture a bit further into the world of executive level leadership and gain unique insights from a variety of speakers.

Chief Jim Ferraris (Ret.) thanks Sheriff Nelson for his willingness to lend the Deschutes Co. Sheriff's facility for this week's training.

LE leaders from across the state are gathering this week to expand their knowledge on agency leadership, budgeting and much more.

Chief Jim Band (Ret.) spoke on Monday on the Foundations of Leadership, laying out the fundamentals as it relates to the responsibilities of a chief.

This fall, the OACP invites our members to take a stroll down memory lane. For those who have been with us for several years we hope to rekindle cherished memories. For our newer members, we hope you enjoy the journey. Soon these moments will become your own treasured memories.

As Campbell family closes in on 30 years of dedicated service to the OACP, we rewind to 1995 when they were first introduced to the association & quickly familiarized themselves with the important work to be done in the legislature as well as  ensuring the 1995 Annual conference went off without a hitch in Baker City.

Although Larry & Karlyn are long retired, and Craig has taken on other important work - Kevin, along with his wife Marie, carry on the same spirit of dedication and support to members old and new. With nearly 30 annual conferences having taken place since these early days, the planning for the next Annual Conference is already underway.

The winds of change are always around - and I (OACP staff Liz Besand) have learned that this is no different for this association. While the faces in the office have changed over the years, from Gail to Annie, Shayla to Deanna, and again from Kayla to myself, the enthusiasm and diligence to serve OACP members remains steadfast. It's been a joy to join the Campbell family in serving this association, while getting to know and honor those who served before. I hope you're enjoying these "Rewinds" as much as I have enjoyed uncovering them.
