Our Fall Conference Journey is Complete

Last Thursday, we wrapped up Day 2 of the conference with a strong lineup of speakers. Kicking things off was the “Medford Team” - Ron Havniear, Tina Chasteen, and Chris Dode - who delivered a powerful presentation on the harsh realities of school active shooter scenarios. They paired sobering insights with practical, real-world recommendations, and provided hands-on materials for attendees to take back to their communities to strengthen emergency planning efforts.

Dr. De Hicks led a compelling session based on his “Built for the Storm” framework, exploring how resilience is forged one decision at a time - even in the face of life’s fiercest challenges. Over the course of five hours, he held the room with his relatability, energy, and depth of insight into leadership, motivation, and human behavior.

Annie Rexford, Research Coordinator for DPSST shared insights from its 2023 statewide survey of Oregon officers. The "Choosing to Serve" report pulls back the curtain on what draws individuals to a career in policing - and what factors make them consider leaving.

A shoutout and special thanks to DPSST for once again hosting and sponsoring our Fall Conference, as well as generously providing lunch and afternoon refreshments. We are grateful for the use of your excellent facilities and, as always, for the amazing staff who make everything run so smoothly.
