Congratulations to incoming OACP President Chief Matt Workman! We look forward to the year ahead as he leads the OACP. President Workman has a message for our members as he begins his term. Read below:

"Greetings All OACP Members!

Wow! The past year has been a whirlwind for the OACP and law enforcement in general! We have faced one figurative tsunami after another and are seeing our profession change on a monthly, if not weekly, basis. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Chief Jim Ferraris (Ret.) for his unbelievable leadership through this tumultuous year! Pandemic, police reform, hostile legislative process, wildfires, more police reform, etc.…and through it all, he was a rock as our OACP President. I could go on and on with more accolades for President Ferraris and the work he did, but I will repeat what I said at the mini banquet in Hood River on May 7, “If my OACP presidency is a fraction as good as yours, it will be considered a success.” Thank you, Jim. It is an honor to serve with you on the Executive Board. Of course, Jim isn’t done and will be our Past President for the next year and has agreed to continue being involved in the Legislative Committee as a co-chair."

Thoughts from conference attendees on the 2021 Virtual Annual Conference:

"Kori’s presentation was great and so timely with all of the challenges we are facing in law enforcement. What really resonated with me is that bias is natural for human beings, but some bias needs to be interrupted. Kori espoused that we need to celebrate our differences and we don’t have to conform to get along. Kori was right on point when she said we must assess the state of trust in our communities as well as negotiate our vulnerabilities and be accountable. As Kori stated, 'we must be willing to listen, understand, and to solve community problems. We have to get close to each other.' Very good presentation!"

"As a 21-year police officer, but a six month old Chief, what I took away from Mr. Havel’s presentation was the overall focus on maintaining a healthy organizational culture. A healthy organizational culture cannot be taken for granted/ignored and has to be continually tended. I believe that Mr. Havel was spot on identifying those within organizations who are usually the individuals trying to undermine the organizational leadership and culture. Overall, a great presentation filled with applicable information that I can use to continue to build and maintain a healthy organizational culture."
