Congratulations to outgoing president Jim Ferraris for a successful year as OACP's leader. The association was able to acknowledge his leadership efforts this past year at the Recognition Dinner held in Hood River last Friday. In spite of not being able to go forward with an in-person Annual Conference (and therefore an Awards Banquet), we are grateful we were able to honor him appropriately. There were others recognized that evening as well, and we will be featuring them in the weeks ahead.

2020-21 OACP President Jim Ferraris gave his farewell address in a letter printed in the Virtual Annual Conference notebook. Read below:

"I hope this message finds all of you well and healthy. It is hard to believe that we are now in the month of May! It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the holidays and now summer is almost upon us."

National Police Week
May 9-15, 2021

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

The OACP remembers and honors the fallen and recognizes the dedication and sacrifice of those that are serving in law enforcement today.

In honor of National Police Week, please view the following video from IACP President Cynthia Renaud.
