This week's featured tools are the
Committee Management System (CMS) and E-lists:

The Committee Management System (CMS) and E-lists facilitate committee communication. The CMS provides a means to keep historical records for current and future committee members to review.

The E-list allows you to send an email to everyone on your committee and is not limited by character count.  They are currently set up so that every reply by a fellow committee member will be seen by all.

If you are serving on a committee this year it would benefit you to learn how to use these resources. If you are not yet familiar with them, they're easy. Just follow the simple steps we have outlined in the document below. We will be sending additional information about this to each committee member.

Click here for instructions to utilize the Committee Management System.

Click here for an updated Committee Roster.

The committees are being finalized by President Skinner. Once they are completed, committee members will find these tools helpful with communication among members.  If you have indicated interest in a committee, your profile has already been updated and you have been input into the CMS and E-list.

If you're a small agency chief or high-level decisionmaker, you're invited to attend this year's conference. By "small agency," we mean agencies whose chiefs need to work the road. Perhaps your agency is a bit larger than that, but you've figured out how not to have to work the road; if so, this conference is for you too -- if for no other reason than to share what you've learned.

We're hoping small agency chiefs will appreciate the opportunity this conference provides and that they, along with chiefs from larger agencies, will attend and benefit from the information discussed.

Welcome New Chiefs!

Chief Jason Wade, U of O Police Department

Congratulations to Chief Jason Wade on his appointment to Chief of the University of Oregon Police Department. Chief Wade has been the acting chief since December of 2021 while the university launched a search to fill this position. He began at U of O Police Department as a sergeant in 2014. The OACP congratulates Chief Wade and wishes him great success.

Chief Jim Williams, Rogue River PD

Chief Williams was appointed as Chief of Police at Rogue River PD in March 2021 (sometimes we're late to the game). He came from Medford PD and has a detective background. Chief Williams is not yet an OACP member, so feel free to reach out to him, offer your help and expertise, and invite him to become an OACP member.

Chief Bill Steele Retires

Congratulations to Chief Bill Steele (Tualatin PD) on his upcoming retirement June 10, 2022. Chief Steele began his law enforcement career in 1996 with the Washington County Sheriff's Office after spending four years in the Air Force. He was appointed Chief of Police for the Tualatin Police Department in 2016 and has been an OACP member since that time. The OACP wishes him a relaxing and fulfilling retirement.
