Tips and tools for making your association experience a smooth one...

Making the Most of the Committee Management System

The CMS allows for simple communication while providing a means to keep historical records for current and future committee members to review. Please note there are character limits in sending a message. Files can also be uploaded at this site and reviewed.

The E-list allows you to send an email to everyone on the committee and is not limited by character count.  They are currently set up so that every reply by a fellow committee member will be seen by all.

If you are serving on a committee this year it would benefit you to learn how to use these resources. If you are not yet familiar with them, they're easy. Just follow the simple steps we have outlined in the document below. We will be sending additional information about this to each committee member.

TRAINING CORNER
Each week this summer we'll be looking back at past training and featuring a presentation that can be accessed on our training platform. Consider viewing one of the highlighted videos (or having someone at your agency do so) for additional training credit.

Fundamentals of Ethics in Law Enforcement

Presented by: Sandra Flint

Through an examination of our common ethical systems, this class explores how personal and agency values impact our application of ethical rules.  With common ethical systems in mind, strategies are formed to promote greater ease for understanding and application of our ethical rules of behavior.  Regardless of the detail and complexity of agency ethics policy, a fundamental approach including holding true to common agency values, lead us to consistency with our ethical core.

This 1-hour presentation can be found in the "F6|Ethics" package on the Training Center.

The OACP congratulates and welcomes Russell Spino on his recent appointment to Chief of Police of Columbia River Inter-Tribal Police Department on June 12, 2024.

Chief Spino has been deeply rooted in the Columbia River community and serving residents since 2001, starting as an enforcement officer and moving through the ranks to sergeant and then captain, and now Chief of Police. Russell has been a member of the OACP since 2021. As he begins this new role, Chief Spino hopes to continue bridging the gap between his cultural heritage and his role in law enforcement.
