Retirement Resource Guide

Did you know the OACP Retired Member committee, with the help of (Ret.) Chief Les Youngbar and (Ret.) Chief Terry Wright, created a Retirement Resource Guide? If you're planning for retirement within the next five years or so, this guide will provide you with a wealth of information you'll want to check out.

Included in this guide you'll find information on:

  • PERS
  • Social Security - Receiving benefits while working, receiving benefits early, etc.
  • Medicare
  • IRS Forms
  • Suggested Reading List

Simply log in to the Member's Only area of the website and scroll over Resources on the upper blue ribbon. At the bottom of the list is the Retirement Resource Guide - Homepage. Clicking on this page gives you an overview of the guide. As you'll see, there is a dropdown menu of the topics mentioned above that will allow you to go directly to the topic that most interests you.

This site can be updated at any time with information provided by our members, so if you have a suggestion, feel free to reach out to the 2025-2026 Retirement Committee or the OACP office.

Each week this summer we'll be looking back at past training and featuring a presentation that can be accessed on our training platform. Consider viewing one of the highlighted videos (or having someone at your agency do so) for additional training credit.

  • "Well-structured and tailored to a LE audience. The presenter certainly knew her topic and provided excellent insight into a challenging aspect of Law Enforcement."
  • "Presenter did an excellent job with her presentation, explaining the ideas and providing solid examples to demonstrate the concepts."
  • This presentation was outstanding!!!!

Course Description: Law enforcement agencies are becoming more progressive about sharing their news and that’s a win we all should celebrate. This course is designed to provide leaders tools to help increase their ability to share that news accurately and quickly, when events warrant. The public's demand for immediate information and extreme transparency following a police use of force is increasing with every passing year. This presentation is designed to strengthen your command staff's ability to quickly and accurately, without damaging the investigation, communicate with the public to enhance your department's reputation, even when the news itself isn't flattering.
