Our first featured Tool is
Sound Off Forum / Sound Off Index
Did you know that since OACP's Sound Off Forum launched, 332 topics have been shared, and 1,258 responses posted?

This tool allows members to efficiently broadcast  questions to colleagues and then quickly get responses. Information is saved and available for others to access and benefit from in the future.

Sound Off Request Form - To submit a Sound Off, log in to the Members Only area > go to Community > Sound Off Request Form. Once the form is submitted, we will format the question/information and send the message.  Utilize this if you would like us to submit the Sound Off for you.

You can also submit a Sound Off inquiry yourself by going directly to the Sound Off Forum, and from there click on OACP Sound Off > click on New Topic

Sound Off Index - Go here for a list of all Sound Off inquiries that fellow members have posted, and the responses of OACP colleagues. You can find this area by logging into the Members Only area > go to Community > Sound Off Index.

If you're a small-agency chief or high-level decision-maker, you're invited to attend this year's conference. By "small agency," we mean agencies whose chiefs need to work the road. Perhaps your agency is a bit larger than that, but you've figured out how not to have to work the road; if so, this conference is for you too -- if for no other reason than to share what you've learned.

We're hoping small-agency chiefs will appreciate the opportunity this conference provides and that they, along with chiefs from larger agencies, will attend and benefit from the information discussed.

Annual Conference Training Videos

We've had excellent feedback from the annual conference training, and some of you have indicated interest in getting your hands on the training as soon as possible for the benefit of staff at your agency who weren't able to attend the conference. In light of this, we will be making these videos available in the next couple weeks for purchase at a reasonable price. We will provide a few different ways to order these:

1. Ala carte: for one individual to purchase one or more training videos for their own viewing.

2. Group sessions: for an agency who wants to purchase one or more training videos and make it available for everyone at their agency. Price for this will be dependent on city size.

3. Annual Conference Package: for your agency to have access to all the training from the Annual Conference. This price would also be dependent on city size.

As you can imagine, determining a fair price for all these options is a bit tricky and we will be reaching out to both the OACP Board and the Education & Training committee for input. We want to provide a creative and affordable way to get training into the hands of agencies, while procuring funds for additional training, and possibly a conference app. More information to come.

Our full online Training Center is still in the works and will be up and running later this summer.

Chief Spalding Retires

Although Chief Geoff Spalding is still working in a part-time capacity for the Astoria Police Department, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to congratulate him on his official retirement on April 19, 2022. Chief Spalding has been a valuable OACP member since 2009 having served as OACP President for the 2016-2017 year. After already retiring twice during his four decades in law enforcement, and then taking on the Chief of Police position in 2017, Chief Spalding has definitely earned a relaxing retirement. Congratulations, Chief!
