Happy 4th of July!
I just wanted to say to all our members that I hope you and your family (personal and law enforcement) have a safe and sane holiday - weekend! Since becoming your OACP President, I have been extremely busy and am eternally grateful for the Victory Group. Of course, with Kevin and Marie at the helm, with the assistance of Chloe and Liz, I am convinced we have a team which will take this organization into the future, in a very meaningful and positive way. As Deanna transitions out, after serving the OACP for the last five years, I want to take this time to thank her for her dedication to the association, for all her hard work, and the heart she put into everything she did!
There is certainly a lot going on this summer, especially as we all approach another election season. Your executive board and the Victory Group are hard at work considering what the association’s Legislative Committee will look like moving forward. We will need to develop a team of committee members that are nimble to react and even testify at a moment’s notice during next year’s long legislative session. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank those of you that signed up to be on our various committees as well as those that asked to serve as co-chairs - thank you!
So, on this, the 248th celebration of our country's independence, I want to wish you all a happy 4th of July! I hope you all get the opportunity to take time off this summer to enjoy time with your family and friends!
Thank you all for being a part of this great organization! It is my honor to serve as your President. If I can be of service to you or your agency, never hesitate to reach out!
Take care!

OACP President Chief Mark Daniel (pictured in the back row, middle) represented the OACP last week at the Oregon City County Management Association Conference in Hood River. Along with a panel of other local leaders, discussions included information on hot topics facing Oregon industries, and how the chief administrator can help (or hinder) their work. Advice was provided for OCCMA members to be effective, connected, and responsive leaders to our most important resource: employees.
Chief Daniel was able to disseminate information gained from a survey that OACP chiefs responded to recently.
