Whether retirement is just around the corner or five years away, the OACP Retirement Resource Guide offers information to help members prepare for the next chapter.
Originally created by Retired Chief Les Youngbar and Retired Chief Terry Wright, the OACP Retirement Resource Guide has recently undergone a comprehensive update to better serve and support our members. The refreshed guide now includes current 2026 information, expanded resources, direct links to official agencies and programs, and deeper explanations of key definitions, qualifications, deadlines, and retirement-planning options. We are pleased to share this enhanced resource with members as a more complete, accessible, and practical tool for navigating retirement with greater clarity and confidence.
To access the guide, log in to the Members Only area of the OACP website. From the upper blue menu, select Resources, then hover over 'Retirement Resource Guide – Homepage' near the bottom of the list and select a topic of your choosing.
The Retirement Resource Guide is designed to grow and be updated as new information becomes available. Members with suggestions, helpful resources or updated information are encouraged to contact Retired Chief Terry Wright.
Additionally, members considering or preparing for retirement are also encouraged to watch Magen Fong’s presentation from the 2026 OACP Annual Conference, 'Serving Those Who Serve: Retirement Readiness for OPSRP Officers.” which can be found on the OACP training center. Her conference presentation provides an overview of OPSRP eligibility requirements, pension calculations, retirement payment options and the role of the IAP in building overall retirement income. Whether you attended the session in Pendleton and would like a refresher or were unable to participate, the training is a helpful companion to the OACP Retirement Resource Guide and can be found in the OACP Training center linked below.

The OACP Ultimate Sacrifice plaque has found its new home at DPSST. Originally created by Chief Mark Miranda (Ret.) to honor OACP members who made the ultimate sacrifice, the plaque was recently recreated by Capital Trophy of Salem after the original sustained irreparable damage.
Thanks to DPSST Director Phil Castle, the plaque was installed last week in a place of honor beside a window overlooking the Oregon Law Enforcement Memorial, a fitting reminder that the legacy of these fallen officers will never be forgotten.

Cardiovascular disease remains the #1 killer of active and retired law enforcement officers—yet many of the traditional health screenings used today fail to identify the unique risks faced by those in public safety.
For the next 30 days only, OACP members have exclusive access to Dr. Ben Stone's Annual Conference presentation, "Stronger Hearts, Stronger Leaders: Tackling the #1 Killer of Active and Retired LEOs," in the OACP Training Center.
|
In this eye-opening session, Dr. Stone explores the connection between occupational stress, metabolic health, chronic inflammation, and cardiovascular disease, while sharing practical, evidence-based strategies to improve resilience, optimize performance, and protect long-term health.
This presentation will be available through August 21, 2026, and will then be removed from the Training Center. Don't miss this opportunity to watch at your convenience and earn 2.5 hours of F6 training credit.
