A Christmas Message from Chief Mark Daniel, OACP President
As I look around at all the holiday festivities and beautiful traditions of the season, it makes me appreciate my friends and family more than ever. Amid all the gift wrapping, list making, tree decorating, and cookie baking, I'm wishing you a moment of peace and a chance to breathe. Life is such a rush these days, but I'm grateful for all of you and hoping your holiday season is full of joy.
Happy Kwanzaa! Blessed Solstice! Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! No matter what holiday you celebrate, I'm wishing you a wonderful one shared with those you love.
I want to share some quick reminders regarding OACP. Please register and plan to attend the ELTS conference in Seaside. Currently we have a record number of individuals registered (about 180). There are some excellent instructors lined up for this very special conference we have every year in Seaside! I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the conference, at our Social Night on (with awesome raffle prizes and great food and drink), as well as at the New Chief’s Dinner for those of you have stepped in to that role this past year!
And, just a reminder that April is just a short time away. Please plan to attend the 2025 OACP Conference in Pendleton! This will be another value-added event for everyone to enjoy. There will be awesome presenters, vendors, meals, and a bit of a relaxed awards banquet. Mark your calendar and plan to attend!
Lastly, I would like to recognize some Chiefs retiring as the year draws to a close – Chief Robert Mason of the Independence Police and Chief Matt Scales from the McMinnville Police. Both gentlemen served OACP in their own capacities, as well as their communities at home. They are owed a debt of gratitude for their devoted service to their communities, the state of Oregon, and the OACP. Thank you to both of these fine leaders, and for their service to us all!
