Please note, we will not be sending out a Weekly Update next week in the usual format. Instead, be looking for a New Year's message coming your way.

To OACP Members and Administrative Staff:

Happy Holidays! We should be singing, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,” but impacts of the pandemic are changing the way the holidays are being celebrated. This year will not look like Christmas and holidays of the past. Instead of the many celebrations we are accustomed to over Christmas, New Year’s and other observed holidays, our festivities are dialed back considerably from what we may have been accustomed.

Regardless, like everything else we have had to adapt to and change because of COVID-19, we can still celebrate the holidays; we just have to celebrate differently.

The good news, as I write this message, is that the vaccine has arrived and is being administered to Oregonians. My hope is that decision-makers properly place Oregon’s dedicated law enforcement officers in the vaccination queue to receive the vaccine sooner than later, so service to our Oregon communities can continue with less risk of impacts by the virus to our law enforcement officers.
