Connecting with the Community

Take a look at some of the creative, resourceful, and helpful ways agencies are connecting with and reaching out to their community during this pandemic. We can't fit in this small space all the incredible ways YOU are choosing to serve, so we will be sharing more on our Facebook page in the coming days. We always love to hear how our members are interacting with their communities, so please send photos our way.

2020 Annual Conference-          CANCELLED

After considering all available options, the Executive Board made the difficult decision to cancel the Annual conference for this year. Uncertainty regarding what the next few months will look like, as well as the expectation that city budgets for travel and training will be frozen, contributed to the decision. We will be sending out information that will allow those currently registered to choose:
1) a full refund, or
2) transfer money to the fall conference. We know refunds often go back into city budgets and not to your department.
Be looking for more information in your inbox this coming week.

OACP FB AUCTION

Rumor has it that in spite of the Annual Conference being cancelled, Chief Don Taylor may be able to creatively host a facebook Auction to raise money for the good work of the OACP sometime this summer. More info on this to come.

Chief Gary Bell (La Grande PD) was creatively sworn in April 21
Chief Bell is succeeding Chief Brian Harvey from the La Grande Police Department. Chief Bell is a 26-year veteran with the La Grande PD, serving most recently as the department's Lieutenant and the NE Oregon SWAT Team Commander. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the promotion ceremony was a bit unconventional conducted via video conferencing. Congratulations to Chief Bell!
