Past Presidents' Nominating Committee

Unique times call for a creative approach to the transition of OACP leadership.

As you know, The Oregon Association Chiefs of Police nominates and elects the six members of the Executive Committee and the sixteen members of the Board of Directors at the General Membership meetings held during OACP's Annual Conferences. This year, in light of COVID-19, the process is being conducted electronically while adhering to the OACP bylaws as closely as possible. In keeping with this commitment, last week President Kris Allison appointed a Nominating Committee consisting of all OACP past-presidents that were able to participate. On Monday, May 4, the Nominating Committee met via a zoom call to perform their role of determining the qualification of candidates for the two available officer positions. They interviewed Chief Matt Scales for the Secretary/Treasurer position and Chief John Teague for the Vice-President At Large position and determined that both are qualified to hold office. They also reviewed the other executive committee and board positions and voted unanimously to forward the entire list as a slate to the General Membership for a vote. Be looking for this electronic election ballot in your inbox.
