Prineville Police Chief Retires!

The OACP congratulates Chief Dale Cummins (Prineville PD) on his retirement July 1, 2022. Chief Cummins began his 38-year law enforcement career serving in the U.S. Army as a military police soldier. Before arriving in Prineville in 2015, Cummins served as a patrolman in his hometown of San Diego and for over 26 years as a City of Gresham patrolman, field training officer, canine handler, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and deputy chief. Cummins became chief of police in Prineville on December 15, 2015. Chief Cummins has been an OACP member since 2009. The OACP thanks Chief Cummins for his service and wishes him a very happy and fulfilling retirement.

Congratulations to
Chief Larry Seymour!

The OACP congratulates Chief Larry Seymour on his appointment to Chief of Police of the Prineville Police Department. Chief Seymour began at Prineville PD in 2004 and has served in many capacities since that time. He became the Captain of Operations in 2016. In 2017, then-Captain Seymour completed the FBI National Academy.

While the city of Prineville is sad to see Chief Cummins go, they are confident in Chief Seymour's ability to lead and are looking forward to him taking the helm. The OACP wishes Chief Seymour great success in his new role.

Welcome New Astoria Police Chief!

Chief Stacy Kelly will become Astoria's next police chief beginning July 1. Chief Kelly has over 20 years of law enforcement experience including serving as the assistant police chief for the Newport News PD in Virginia. He has spent the past five years working at Axon Enterprise traveling to law enforcement agencies across the country in the implementation and training of TASERs and body camera systems. Please reach out and welcome him to Oregon and invite him to become an OACP Member!

One of the best parts of our job here at the OACP is to shine a bright light on all the good work that Oregon law enforcement is involved in. We use Facebook as a tool to do that, knowing that our audience is a good representation of community members around the state .

We’re happy to say we hit a milestone last week by reaching 1.1k people in just 7 days. We think that is something to shout about. If your agency is involved in a community event, please send our way. Although we search fb for these uplifting stories, we hate the thought of having one fall through the cracks.
