Last week we concluded another successful conference with some informative presenters,  conversation over good meals, an amazing reception that OEDI facilitated (with over 100 door prizes handed out), and an impromptu gathering at a local establishment put on by our conference sponsor, Harbortech.

The New Chiefs' Dinner is always a great time for the Executive Board and OACP staff to sit down with new chiefs (and some spouses) to hear about their career path, and how it led them to the agency where they are now chief.  President Chief Matt Workman added a special flair by asking what they would be doing if it did not involve law enforcement. Some of the answers included teacher, baseball player,  pilot, and pastor.  Our apologies if there were any new chiefs that we missed. With so many recent retirements and therefore new chiefs in place, I fear we may have inadvertently missed some of you. Please know this was not done intentionally!

Welcome to Chief Travis Gullberg, Gresham PD

Even though Chief Gullberg has been serving at Gresham PD since August 2021, we wanted to take the opportunity now to welcome him and congratulate him in his new role. Chief Gullberg's 25-year law enforcement career began in Wyoming in 1996. He served the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office since 1998.  He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

It's that time of  year. OACP membership renewal fees are due. We know it's just one more thing to add to your list, which is why we especially appreciate you carving out a moment to take care of it now. If you have not dealt with this yet, you can find the invoice in your inbox (from last week) and it can easily be paid online, or the pdf forwarded to your finance dept.  Can't seem to find the message/invoice in your crammed inbox?  Login to the Members Only area where specific steps are listed on the Landing Page. Click here to make your way there.

This week we're featuring the Citizen Award of Merit which is "for a citizen who performs an exceptional act
or demonstrates a continued pattern of actions that further the mission and goals of the OACP or who made a significant impact or contribution to the law enforcement profession."
See below the two recipients of this award thus far. We imagine there are many in your communities or at your agencies who fit this description and who would be deserving of this award. Take the time now to nominate them.

Judy Willey – 2019
Marcia Gilson – 2021

Award nominations are due March 1, 2022. Click here for more information and a nomination form.
