The silent auction was a great success raising almost $5,500! With the proceeds, OACP will fund scholarships and support Special Olympics. Thank you to all who participated, and to Chief Don Taylor (Turner PD) for organizing this fundraiser.

A special thank you to those who went above and beyond during the conference to lend a hand. We could not have pulled off this event without your help!

  • Retired member Terry Wright  who helped tirelessly with vendors and conf. set up
  • Chief Rick Stokoe  who served throughout the Awards Banquet preparation and ceremony
  • Members who helped out as Vendor "Ambassadors"
  • Rick Puente  who helped bring the right vibe to the Trade Show experience
  • The many conference attendees who were "willing team players" and participated in the Trade Show activities
  • Several chiefs who played host to, and introduced the presenters throughout the conference
  • Chiefs at Bend, Redmond, Black Butte and Sunriver PD who offered their staff as volunteers

All the training sessions were recorded, and will be sent out to all who registered for the conference. If you registered and something unexpected came up, you will still have access to all the recorded training. Once our video team edits the sessions, we will distribute them. If there are folks at your agency who did not register and would like to view the presentations, we'll be making them available on a Learning Center platform at a reasonable cost.

Past Presidents Office & Board Nominating Committee meets during the Annual Conference.

Executive Director Kevin Campbell presents during the Annual Conference.

OACP members engage with vendors during the Trade Show (making vendors and Marie very happy).

Record number of attendees filled the training room during the presentations.

New Member Fun Facts:
We asked our new members about their hobbies, favorite music genre, where they would travel if given the chance, and their favorite food. Here's what they had to say:

Nick Troxel - "When I am away from work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two boys. I find great pleasure in working on my property. I mow about two acres on my Kubota Tractor which is great therapy. I listen to all kinds of music from country to what is on the Top 40 charts. I enjoy spending time on the beach and somewhere warm but not too hot. I don't miss a meal. When I am hungry, I love to bake, BBQ and cook. I have a Green Mountain Grill that turns out amazing eats!"

Richard Sheldon - "I like to spend time fishing and camping with my family."

Lyle Gilbert - "I enjoy ocean fishing when time allows and also enjoy wakeboarding with my family. The only kind of music I listen to is old country, although my family sometimes makes me listen to other genres. If I were given the choice of where to vacation I would head to Germany. I spent some time there many years ago and would love to go back. Wings.....I love a good chicken wing."

Michael Iwai - "Fitness. As I get older, health becomes more of a priority. It's more than feeling good to do the job. It's about being healthy and really enjoying my time away from the job. I like the outdoors (hiking, biking, paddle boarding, kayaking, and camping).Music - is dependent on my mood. I like rock when I'm working out but I also like Christian, Country, and Classical. Vacation - we like to vacation in Arizona or Florida. Feeling hungry - I would probably grab an authentic Burrito first. A good sandwich, BBQ, or Teriyaki Chicken will also do!"

Travis Gullberg - "Family, exercising, traveling, and hummingbirds. Country music. Arizona, Montana, or Wyoming. Italian food, or anything pasta."

Ryan Simmons - "I enjoy woodworking, metal fab and working on some C10 truck projects. I enjoy all kinds of music and do not have a favorite at this point in my life. We like vacationing in Eastern Oregon."

Larry Seymour - "I'm heavily involved with youth sports, hunting, fishing, and generally spending time with family outdoors while running my hobby farm . My biggest hobby at this point in my life is staying healthy, and I think we can all agree that 80's rock will always be the best...."

The OACP congratulates Chief Richard Schmitz (Aumsville PD) on his upcoming retirement on April 30, 2022. Chief Schmitz has been in law enforcement for 36 years. He has been a member of the OACP since April 2010. There is a retirement party scheduled for May 7 at 3:00 pm at the Keizer Elks Lodge. Fellow OACP members are welcome to drop by. The OACP wishes Chief Schmitz a very happy retirement!
